We abandoned the usual meeting format this week, and instead we headed to an Indian restaurant in City Beach for a social get together. There were around forty Members, Honorary Members, Partners and Friends at the event, and it turned out to be a wonderful evening all round. We all assembled at the venue to find that Leonie Pearse had diligently allocated seats and made table name tags for everyone, and after milling around to say our ‘hellos’, we took our seats and the proceedings began.
The meal started off with pappadums and onion bhaijis, and all present had brought drinks of their choice to this BYO restaurant. President Frank said a few words, and also extended thanks to Leonie and the Social Committee for organising everything so nicely. The main course then followed, and we were treated to Butter Chicken, Rogan Josh, Vegetarian JelFrezi, and fragrant steamed rice, along with mixed Naan Bread. During the meal there was a lot of chatting of course, and plenty of laughter. Because of the layout of the restaurant Frank and Eileen landed up at different tables, and we wondered whether the expression on Eileen’s face was anguish or relief!
Cate Barlow took the non-existent prize for dressing in the spirit of the occasion as she sported exotic rings and a sari-like pashmina. It must have been made from Kashmir pashm given the circumstances, and that happens to be raw, unspun wool from Changthangi goats!
Thanks to all concerned for arranging a very enjoyable evening!
