We reflected on the entire goings on at last Saturday’s Fete that we undertook with St Edmund’s Anglican Church in Pangbourne Street Wembley. In essence the net takings were just under $20K and so each partner will have just short of $10K to apply to their respective programmes and projects. This was an improvement on last year’s effort in spite of the fact that later in the morning we had competition from a local primary school fair. Frank circulated a list of each stall’s contribution, and highlighted the fact that all available Club Members, Wives, Partners and Family Members participated in the event. We have a very good working relationship with the Church Minister and parishioners, and we have received very positive feedback from many quarters. Well done and a huge thank you to each and every one of you who joined in both prior to and on the day!

Some of the other things that we did were:
  •      Greg Thurston of the District Foundation Committee came along to present our Club with a Certificate of Appreciation for our ongoing contribution to the Foundation. He also updated us about RAM – Rotary against Malaria – and it’s chilling to note that malaria kills more people these days than polio used to in the past.
  •      Pres. Jeremy updated us on a number of activities such as negotiations with a nearby Rotary Club about widening the Primary School 4 Way Test Speaking Competition; the latest Peace Pole ceremony at Wembley Primary; and discussions with teachers about getting pupils to organise their own community activities.
  •      Jim summarised our Poppy Day activities both through various schools and at the Forum. We received a Certificate of Thanks from the RSL.
  •      Rod  advised that the Probus Club started by our Club (when it was named Floreat) has just celebrated its 35th Anniversary!
