Our most recent get-together started on a very formal basis; we had our Annual General Meeting. This was completed in only a few minutes as all the mandatory documentation had been circulated well in advance. The current Board will carry over into the 2021/22 year as there were no competing nominations. A variety of topics were covered during the subsequent Club Forum, including the Smile For a Reason Lottery put on by our Club and Mt Lawley – see Pres. Jeremy’s email dated 12th October – we should circulate details widely please, and remember Facebook action!; our Fete (21st November) still requires a lot of work – see the action list below and take heed of Peter Pearse’s forthcoming email please; our involvement in Cans for Christmas is simply to distribute leaflets (as per a set plan) to encourage people to drop off items at the Matthews Centre carpark; David James has organised Fete publicity on Capital Community Radio, and it was agreed to purchase a year long package of publicity on Curtin Radio for $88 – paid for by donations from Members; the Bowling Club is having a Melbourne Cup function – details from them; We have a Bunnings Sausage Sizzle on Saturday 12th December. Peter McSkimming suggested various avenues to secure guest speakers and for fundraising; and unfortunately this week’s Schools Programme had to be cancelled due to lack of response. So our action list is:
  • Applications are sought for the RYLA one week camp from 4th -10th January 2021 at Bickley Recreational Camp. It’s for potential leaders aged 18-25 years. Have you got a candidate in mind? See the RYLA website (www.ryla9455.org) or contact Frank.
  • Please watch out for Peter Pearse’s new email regarding the Fete on Saturday 21st November. Set-up is on Friday afternoon (limited) & Saturday morning. We need Raffle & Silent Auction items, volunteers & a large gazebo!
  • The annual Driver Education event will take place on Wednesday 2 December between 11.00 am and 2.30 pm at the Showground. Frank will contact the 6 volunteers (thank you all) shortly.
  • This year’s ‘Cans for Christmas’ project is going to take the form of a drive-through rather than collecting from houses. We need volunteers to distribute flyers in Floreat and City Beach. Please contact Pres. Jeremy.
