Judi Lane explains how the Harry Perkins Institute is taking the "Fight to Covid-19".
The Cambridge Club's first on-line virtual meetingfeatured Judi Lane talking on "Perkins Takes the Fight to Covid-19". 20 members and guests were "present" including some who had not attended for some time: thank you for coming along! Judi has addressed the club members before and after giving some background information about herself and her family, she talked about the Perkins Institute's action regarding Covid-19. Staff are involved in several initiatives including the production of face shields, gathering intelligence about the virus through tissue and data banks, and vaccine trials. The last is through a unit called Linear Clinical Research which is working in conjunction with a China-based biotech company Clover Biopharmaceuticals. This is a major coup for Australia which will lead to human trials and hopefully, the mass production of a vaccine in due course. The Perkins Institute is also providing front line support to many, as the CEO is a physician and many staff members are experts who share their knowledge. This fascinating address was very well received and generated many questions which Judi handled with aplomb!
