Our Rotary Junior 4 Way Test Speaking Competition was an outstanding evening of public speaking by the nine Year 5 & 6 students from Floreat Park, Kapinara and Wembley Primary Schools - 3 students from each school. The topics were diverse and well delivered all round, and it was very entertaining for all present. The winner was Stephanie White from Kapinara, whose topic was "Designer Babies" (wow, what a subject for an 11 year old!). The first runner-up was Amelia Corbett from Floreat Park speaking about "The Importance of Supporting Australian Farmers", and the second runner-up was Jacob Holmes from Wembley, who spoke on "Music". There was a great atmosphere created by the 80 people in the audience which included the three School Principals, Teachers, families in support, many Rotarians and their Partners. Thanks go to the adjudicators Jean McSkimming, P/P Peter Burns and visiting Rotarian Yvonne Hart, and to P/P Mike Graham for acting as timekeeper. Very special thanks go to Helen Hemery from Caporn Young who sponsored the prizes for the winner and runners-up, and we owe a huge debt of gratitude to Jeanette for her herculean effort in organising the catering for 80 people. Thanks also to Leonie for the muffins, Libby for being on the door, and Eileen for assisting with the set up and food. A most enjoyable night was had by all!
