This week’s meeting was one of internal administration – firstly the Annual General Meeting, followed by a Club Forum. Naturally the content of the AGM is not for general publication; suffice to say that the meeting commenced at 7.30 am and concluded at 7.37 am.
The Club Forum covered a range of topics. Christine Tonkin Rode the Train for Polio Awareness on 24th October, and the funds that she raised will be matched by the Club. Any Member who wishes to do so is encouraged to follow suit. The Bridgetown weekend away was a great success, and it was agreed that we should continue to plan similar ventures in the future. Also, we should plan to have around four social activities in our Rotary year. Given the fact that the Cambridge Bowling Club is now providing Skyline Restaurant meals on Friday and Saturday nights, it was agreed that we should prepare a suitable advertisement (with the Rotary Wheel) which can be erected in a prominent place on those nights. The Speaker Programme was discussed, and those responsible, especially Frank and Eileen, were congratulated on doing such a fine job. In cases where the Speaker is especially desirable, we should consider changing the meeting time so that visitors and perhaps another Club can attend.
