The District Governor’s Official Visit is always a special occasion, and this one was no exception. PDG Ross Ledger introduced DG Ineke Oliver at our meeting which was attended by 4 other Rotary Clubs – Heirisson, Mt Lawley, Northbridge and North Perth, plus our Rotary Exchange Student, Betty. This year Western Australia has only 1 District now known as District 9423, and it comprises 87 Clubs and 5 Rotaract Clubs, so the DG has a very busy time trying to schedule visits to all the Clubs. The DG discussed the Rotary Theme “Create Hope in the World” and hoped that all Clubs will get involved in the main projects of Stopping Domestic Violence, Peace Pole Project, Protection for Young People and the Rotary Foundation. The DG likened Rotary to a tree with roots going out in all directions and to keep this tree healthy and to bear fruit, it is important for all Clubs to increase membership and to get Rotary’s name out into the Community. The promotion of Rotary will be highlighted by Rotary Action Day to be held in Forrest Place, Perth on Saturday 13th April 2024. At the completion of the DG’s address, all Club Presidents gave a 3 minute talk on what their Club is doing and what they hope to achieve in the coming Rotary year.The Rotary 4 Way Junior Speaking Competition State Final was held at Safety Bay Bowling Club with 5 finalists. Our representative, Sarah Choate from Lake Monger Primary School, was Runner Up speaking on “Children Matter”. President Frank, Eileen, Jeremy and Jeanette represented our Club. Sarah did Cambridge Rotary and her School proud!
