Rotary Changeover! This time the powers that be decided that our annual event would take place at lunch time, and with much input from the Social Committee we enjoyed a private room at the Windsor Hotel in South Perth. We had a very good turnout of 17 Members, 3 Honorary Members, 12 Wives and Special Guests DG Ineke Oliver and ADG Jane O’Leary, and what a fantastic afternoon it turned out to be! We were delighted to see Mary Anne and Leonie there, but sorry to hear of Gwen Robins’ misfortune which prevented her from attending. During the lunch we heard from Pres. Frank when he delivered his report on the Rotary year just ended, and it was interesting to hear about all of the action that has taken place during the year. DG Ineke also gave a short address in her role as first DG of District 9423 (which covers the whole of WA), and she urged us to publicise Rotary as widely as possible and at every available opportunity. Our incoming Rotary Board is virtually the same as last year except that Max Puddey has retired from the Treasurer position – which will be filled by Graham McHarrie. Max was thanked by all for his input into that role. Pres. Frank also thanked Jan Puddey and the ladies of the Social Committee for their hard work during the year – what a fine effort! John Gartlan entertained us with a few amusing anecdotes from the early days of his law career in Melbourne, and Pres. Frank announced that the Board had decided to award two Paul Harris Fellowships to Peter Burns and Roger Veary respectively for their ongoing contributions to Rotary and the Club, and these were presented by DG Ineke. Well done them! We all reluctantly left this great event at about 3.30 pm!
